Türkiye urges Washington to end cooperation with PKK/YPG
In a stern phone call with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Türkiye's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan demanded that Washington cease collaboration with PKK/YPG members in northern Syria, according to Turkish diplomatic sources.
During the conversation, Fidan emphasized that Türkiye would persistently continue its counter-terrorism operations in Iraq and Syria, the sources reported.
The discussion also touched upon the deconfliction mechanism between Turkish and US forces in Iraq and Syria, within the context of Türkiye's ongoing operations in the region.
After a Turkish unmanned combat aerial vehicle was shot down in Syria, both parties agreed that the mechanism should operate effectively without impeding the fight against armed groups, the sources added. (ILKHA)
