Turkish authorities seize 150 kilograms of cocaine on Panama-flagged cargo ship
Turkish customs enforcement teams have conducted a successful operation on a Panama-flagged dry cargo ship named 'PHOENICAN' carrying a cargo of coal from Colombia to the port city of Zonguldak in northern Türkiye.
During the search operation, authorities discovered a total of 150 kilograms of cocaine on board the vessel.
Customs Enforcement Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate teams were responsible for organizing the operation on the coal-laden cargo ship. Three suspects were apprehended in connection with the seized contraband.
An investigation into the incident has been launched, as authorities work to uncover the details surrounding the drug smuggling operation and those involved.
The seizure underscores the ongoing efforts of Turkish law enforcement agencies to combat drug trafficking and related criminal activities.
