In a press release, the ministry characterized the resolution as a symbol of "irresponsibility, prejudice, bias, and ignorance."

The statement condemned the resolution as targeting Türkiye based on the discourse of a group of populist and discriminatory EP members who, according to the ministry, have been making unfounded accusations and allegations against Türkiye for years.

Highlighting the broader political landscape in Europe, the ministry noted the rise of populism, racism, Islamophobia, anti-multiculturalism, and anti-integration sentiments within European politics. The Turkish Foreign Ministry expressed the desire for the EU to renew the EP with a new composition that includes representatives committed to fundamental EU values.

Türkiye emphasized its commitment to efforts in establishing peace, stability, and prosperity in the South Caucasus. The press release stated that Türkiye is engaged in a normalization process with Armenia, contributes to the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and mobilizes its capabilities within the framework of international law to address conflicts and humanitarian crises, including the war in Ukraine.

The ministry dismissed the EP resolution as a "systemic weakness," asserting that such texts, taken seriously by only a few marginal sectors, are presented recklessly as EP resolutions. Consequently, the Turkish Foreign Ministry declared that it does not take these resolutions seriously.

The criticism from Türkiye underscores the tensions and divergent perspectives surrounding the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, with geopolitical considerations influencing interpretations and responses from various international actors. (ILKHA)
