Turkish air strikes destroy 16 PKK targets in northern Iraq
Turkish Defense Ministry has reported the successful destruction of 16 targets during an air operation conducted in northern Iraq.
The operation, which targeted PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party) positions, specifically focused on the Metina, Gara, Hakurk, Kandil, and Asos regions.
In an official statement released by the Ministry, it was disclosed that the air strikes commenced at 20:00 local time in line with the right of self-defense, as outlined in Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.
“A total of 16 targets, including caves, bunkers, shelters, and warehouses utilized by the Separatist Terrorist Organization (PKK) and believed to harbor high-ranking terrorists, were successfully destroyed by the air strikes,” the statement read.
Highlighting the efficiency of the operation, the statement added: “The operations resulted in the neutralization of a significant number of terrorists, utilizing domestically-produced ammunition to the fullest extent. Throughout the operation, every precaution was taken to prevent harm to innocent civilians, friendly forces, historical and cultural assets, as well as the environment.” (ILKHA)
