Borrell visits Kyiv to meet with President Zelensky
The European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, arrived in Kyiv on Sunday for a crucial meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The visit included an official ceremony to pay homage to the memory of Ukrainian defenders who sacrificed their lives in the conflict.
Accompanied by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, Borrell participated in the solemn event, demonstrating solidarity and respect for those involved in defending Ukraine against what he referred to as Russia's "unjustified aggression."
“Humbled to be in Kyiv to participate with President @ZelenskyyUa and Minister @DmytroKuleba in honouring the memory of the fallen defenders & express support to those who are currently defending Ukraine from Russia’s unjustified aggression and fight for our common values,” Borrell wrote on X.
The meeting between Borrell and President Zelensky is expected to involve discussions on various matters of mutual interest, including the ongoing geopolitical situation, security concerns, and cooperation between Ukraine and the European Union.
The visit underscores the EU's continued engagement and support for Ukraine in the face of regional challenges. (ILKHA)
