Turkish police thwart attack on national police headquarters in Ankara
Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya has reported a thwarted attack on the entrance of the Turkish National Police Headquarters in Ankara.
"At approximately 09:30, two terrorists arrived at the Ministry of Interior, General Directorate of Security entrance gate in a light commercial vehicle, where they attempted a bomb attack. One of the terrorists detonated himself, and the other was successfully neutralized by security forces. During the exchange of fire, two members of our police force sustained minor injuries. We extend our best wishes for a speedy recovery to our brave officers,” Yerlikaya said in a statement on X.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident, and security measures have been heightened in the area surrounding the police headquarters.
