Eighth Islamic Scholars Meeting kicks off in Diyarbakır

The annual event draws participants from diverse fields, including scholars, academics, politicians, NGO representatives, and opinion leaders from the Islamic World.

Officials from ITTIHAD ULEMA emphasize the primary objective of the gathering, which is to bring together scholars from the Islamic countires, particularly in Kurdish-majority regions, to identify common ground, address current issues, and play a leading role in the development of the Islamic world.

Key Themes and Discussions:

In addition to focusing on issues such as family protection, racism, the Kurdish problem, communication with young people, environmental and humanitarian values, and challenges faced by women influenced by Western culture, scholars will delve into the role of the ulema in social matters and guiding the Islamic awakening.

Program Highlights:

The two-day event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, opening speeches, and cinevision presentations. The program includes four sessions, with prominent scholars leading discussions and presentations.

First Session:

Moderated by Suat Yaşasın Hoca, the first session features speeches by Prof. Dr. Ali Karadaghi on "Saladin Ayyubi's Importance to Science and Scholars and the Institutions He Built," Dr. Nawwaf Tekruri on "Saladin Ayyubi and the Improvement of Society," and Prof. Dr. Ferset Meri on "Saladin and the Defense of Jerusalem."

Second Session:

Prof. Dr. Davud Işıkdoğan will moderate the second session, where presentations will cover topics such as the decline in the role of the ulema in societal progress, the role of ulema and madrasas in directing Islamic awakening, and the adaptation of the ulema to social changes and scientific developments.

Reflections and Second Day:

The first day will conclude with a "Reflections" section, allowing participants to express their opinions. The event will continue on the second day with sessions chaired by Prof. Dr. Zahir Ertekin and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hêmin Ömer Ahmed, addressing issues like racism, family preservation, gender, religious communication with young people, and contributions to the revival of the Islamic world.

Before the sessions on the second day, Dr. Sharafettin Mahmud will deliver a speech on "Natural Disasters in the Light of Causes, Consequences, and Lessons."

Conclusion:
