Turkish coast guard rescues 170 irregular migrants pushed back by Greek authorities

According to an official statement released by the Turkish Coast Guard Command, the operations were initiated after receiving information about the presence of irregular migrants in rubber boats and life rafts off the coast of Izmir.

In these rescue efforts, the Turkish coast guard deployed boats to the region to assist those in distress. The operations successfully resulted in the rescue of the 170 irregular migrants who had been forcibly returned to Turkish waters by Greek forces.

Following the rescue operations, the irregular migrants were transferred to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management to undergo necessary procedures.

This latest series of rescue missions highlights the ongoing challenges and risks faced by irregular migrants attempting to cross the Aegean Sea in search of safer shores, as well as the continuous efforts of the Turkish Coast Guard to ensure their safety and well-being. (ILKHA)
