The operations took place in three separate incidents, underscoring the ongoing challenges faced by migrants seeking refuge in Europe.

Upon receiving critical information about the presence of irregular migrants stranded in life rafts off the coast of Izmir, the Turkish Coast Guard swiftly deployed their vessels to the region, launching a rescue mission to bring the distressed individuals to safety.

In the midst of these operations, 118 irregular migrants, including women and children, were plucked from perilous conditions at sea and safely transported ashore. Their harrowing ordeal at the hands of Greek forces had left them in dire need of assistance.

Additionally, another 115 irregular migrants were apprehended in the western city of Izmir, as authorities continue to grapple with the complex issue of irregular migration.

Following the successful rescues and apprehensions, all irregular migrants were promptly transferred to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management, where necessary procedures and protocols will be carried out to address their status and provide appropriate support.

This recent string of incidents underscores the ongoing humanitarian challenges faced by migrants attempting to reach Europe, as well as the tireless efforts of the Turkish Coast Guard to ensure the safety and well-being of those in distress on the high seas. (ILKHA)
