Hamas welcomes positions of Latin American presidents at UNGA
Hamas has welcomed the positions that were voiced recently by presidents of several Latin American states during the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in support of the Palestinian people and their rights.
"The recent political positions of Latin American countries have practically reflected the failure of the occupation state (Israel) and its partners around the world to isolate the Palestinians living abroad from their national project,” Member of Hamas’s political bureau Hisham Qasem said in press remarks on Saturday.
The Hamas official applauded the Palestinians abroad, especially in the Latin American countries, for their adherence to their national identity and their prominent role in supporting their national cause in the international arena.
He said that the Palestinian cause enjoys great and appreciated support from Latin America’s peoples and governments, stressing that Latin America and the Palestinian question have historical, emotional and humanitarian bonds, especially with regard to their struggle against colonialism.
During the recent 78th session of the UN General Assembly, presidents of Chile, Cuba, Brazil, Bolivia, and Colombia called on the UN to condemn Israel’s persecution of the Palestinian people and to work on ending the occupation of Palestine.
They also called for enabling the Palestinian people to establish their independent state and obtain their rights. (ILKHA)
