This financial aid is a vital component of the 18 billion euros in annual support that Ukraine is expected to receive throughout 2023.

In a statement made on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, emphasized the importance of this support.

“Today we disbursed another €1.5 billion to Ukraine. Just this year, we paid €13.5 billion to help Ukraine keep hospitals, schools and other services running. This also helps Ukraine on its EU path by supporting transformative reforms. Europe remains firmly by Ukraine's side,” von der Leyen wrote.

The macro-financial support comes at a crucial time for Ukraine, providing significant financial backing to bolster key sectors and promote much-needed reforms. This ongoing commitment from the EU underscores the EU's dedication to Ukraine's future within the union and as a strategic partner in the region. (ILKHA)
