Türkiye’s road motor vehicle registrations increase significantly in August
The Turkish Statistical Institute has reported a significant increase in road motor vehicle registrations for the month of August.
A total of 235,317 vehicle registrations were recorded, representing a 1.3% increase compared to the previous month.
Breaking down the vehicle registrations for August, motorcycles accounted for 46.5% of the total, followed by cars at 38.1%. Small trucks made up 10.2%, tractors 2.9%, trucks 1.5%, minibuses 0.5%, buses 0.2%, and special purpose vehicles 0.1%.
Comparing August to the same month in the previous year, registrations saw a remarkable 110.6% increase. Minibuses and motorcycles witnessed the most significant growth, with 188.8% and 165.9% increases, respectively. Small trucks, cars, buses, and tractors also posted substantial gains, while trucks and special purpose vehicles experienced decreases.
As of the end of August, the total number of registered road motor vehicles reached an impressive 27,987,472. Cars represented the largest share at 53.2%, followed by motorcycles at 17.0%, and small trucks at 15.8%.
In terms of vehicles handed over in August, cars accounted for 61.7%, followed by motorcycles at 16.1%, and small trucks at 14.9%. Tractors, trucks, minibuses, buses, and special purpose vehicles made up the remaining percentages.
Furthermore, the report delves into the distribution of trademarks for newly registered cars in August. Fiat led the pack with 12.1%, followed by Renault at 8.9%, and Volkswagen at 7.2%, among others.
Looking at the broader picture, from January to August, a total of 1,525,213 road motor vehicles were registered, marking an 89.5% increase from the previous year. The number of withdrawn road motor vehicles decreased by 18.2% during the same period.
In this eight-month period, gasoline-fueled cars constituted the majority at 67.0%, followed by diesel-fueled cars at 18.5%, hybrid cars at 8.8%, electric cars at 4.3%, and LPG-fueled cars at 1.4%.
The report also highlights that the most frequent engine size for registered cars in January to August was 1300cc or less, accounting for 34.8% of the total.
Lastly, the color preference for registered cars in the same period saw 34.5% in gray, 28.4% in white, 12.3% in blue, 10.7% in black, 7.5% in red, 2.9% in green, 2.3% in orange, 0.6% in yellow, and 0.5% in brown. (ILKHA)
