Turkish President Erdoğan holds diplomatic meetings during 78th UN General Assembly

On his first day in New York, President Erdoğan met with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili at the Turkevi. They discussed the importance of the Middle Corridor and the rapid operationalization of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway.

President Erdoğan's meeting with Algerian President Abdelmecid Tebbun at the Turkevi centered on political and economic relations between the two countries, as well as addressing tensions in Africa. President Erdoğan expressed his commitment to deepening cooperation with Algeria.

He also met with Polish President Andrzej Duda, where bilateral relations and regional issues were on the agenda. President Erdoğan reaffirmed Turkey's active support for NATO.

Addressing the UN General Assembly on the third day of his visit, President Erdoğan highlighted various global issues, including Turkey's foreign policy, recent earthquakes, the Russia-Ukraine War, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Azerbaijan's anti-terrorist operation in Karabakh, developments in Syria, and the fight against terrorism. He reiterated his message that "The world is bigger than five, a fairer world is possible," which received applause from the General Assembly.

Following his UN General Assembly address, President Erdoğan held meetings with Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni and the Prime Minister of Israel, Binyamin Netanyahu.

President Erdoğan's meeting with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in New York focused on maintaining the positive climate in Turkey-Greece relations.

On the last day of his visit, President Erdoğan met with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, expressing Turkey's commitment to cooperation, partnership, and solidarity with the African Continent.

Erdoğan also attended a reception hosted by US President Joe Biden and his wife at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in honor of heads of delegations and their spouses.

Erdoğan's visit to New York during the UN General Assembly was marked by a busy agenda with discussions on critical global and regional issues, as well as reaffirming Turkey's commitment to international cooperation and diplomacy. (ILKHA)
