In a statement issued on Tuesday, Mujahid dismissed the UNAMA report as "baseless and propagandistic."

The UNAMA report had raised concerns about alleged mistreatment and coercion in Afghan detention centers and prisons.

In response, Mujahid stressed that the Islamic Emirate is committed to upholding the rights and dignity of all individuals in its custody.

“No individual, whether in detention centers, prisons, or any military or civil institution of the country, is permitted to harass others,” he said.

Furthermore, the spokesperson emphasized that the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Emirate has explicitly prohibited any form of beating or harassment without a court order, and all departments are adhering to this directive.

Mujahid also sought to refute claims of prisoner suffering, asserting that inmates in the Islamic Emirate's prisons are provided with essential services, including vocational training and well-maintained facilities.

The statement did not stop at defending the conditions in Afghan prisons but also criticized UNAMA's perceived inaction during the previous occupation of Afghanistan when, according to Mujahid, innocent prisoners were subjected to beatings and torture in facilities such as Bagram and Pul-e-Charkhi.

Mujahid contended that since the establishment of the new administration, significant improvements have been made in prison conditions. He asserted that prisoners are no longer subjected to harassment or torture and are provided with necessary services, including opportunities to meet with their relatives.
