Gas explosion in Russia kills at least 4, injures 7
At least four people were killed and seven others were injured in a gas explosion in an apartment building in the Russian town of Balashikha, east of Moscow, on Wednesday.
The blast occurred in a 9-story residential building, causing the collapse of the third, fourth, and fifth floors. At least 10 apartments were damaged, and there is a threat of further destruction.
Seventeen people were evacuated from the building, and two people are still trapped under the rubble. Emergency crews are using tools and heavy machinery to clear the debris.
The attorney general's office has opened a criminal investigation into the incident on account of "provision of services that do not meet security requirements."
The cause of the explosion is still under investigation. (ILKHA)
