Turkish coast guard rescues 38 irregular migrants pushed back by Greek authorities
In a series of six separate incidents, the Turkish Coast Guard launched rescue operations to save 38 irregular migrants who had been pushed back into Turkish territorial waters by Greek authorities.
Upon receiving information about a group of irregular migrants stranded in life rafts off the coast of Izmir, the Turkish Coast Guard swiftly deployed boats to the area.
This proactive response led to the successful rescue of 38 individuals who had previously been turned away by Greek forces.
In parallel operations, the Turkish Coast Guard detected and apprehended another 180 irregular migrants along the coasts of Izmir and Aydın.
These migrants were subsequently processed and transferred to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management as part of the standard procedures for handling such cases.
This latest development underscores the ongoing challenges in the region concerning irregular migration and the critical role played by the Turkish Coast Guard in ensuring the safety of those at sea.
The cooperation and coordination between Turkish and Greek authorities in managing these incidents remain crucial in addressing this complex issue. (ILKHA)
