Turkish President invites Tesla CEO Elon Musk to establish seventh factory in Türkiye

The meeting took place at the Turkish House, also known as the Turkevi Center, in Manhattan, where President Erdogan shared insights into Türkiye's technological advancements, the 'Digital Türkiye' vision, and the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy.

Erdogan highlighted the recent launch of Türkiye's electric car, Togg, which marked Tesla's entry into the Turkish market. Erdogan seized the opportunity to urge Elon Musk to consider Türkiye as the location for Tesla's next manufacturing facility.

The Turkish Communications Directorate issued a statement regarding the meeting, indicating that President Erdogan proposed potential collaborations between Türkiye and SpaceX, especially in connection with Türkiye's burgeoning space program. He also extended an invitation to Musk to attend Teknofest in İzmir.

Elon Musk, in response, acknowledged that many Turkish suppliers already work with Tesla and identified Türkiye as one of the leading contenders for Tesla's future factory expansion.

Moreover, in response to President Erdogan's offer of cooperation in SpaceX's Starlink satellite service and artificial intelligence, Musk expressed a willingness to work with Turkish authorities to secure the necessary licenses to offer Starlink satellite services in Türkiye.

During their meeting, President Erdogan mentioned Türkiye's success in producing Bayraktar TB2 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Musk responded by acknowledging the global interest in Bayraktar drones, underscoring their significance.

The meeting between President Erdogan and Elon Musk underscores Türkiye's commitment to fostering technological innovation and attracting global tech giants to invest in the country's rapidly advancing tech sector. (ILKHA)
