HÜDA PAR Chairman highlights financial strain on families in back-to-school message
In a message addressing the commencement of the 2023-2024 academic year, HÜDA PAR Chairman Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu voiced concerns over the financial burden placed on families, despite the constitutional provision for free and compulsory primary education in public schools.
Yapıcıoğlu also extended his best wishes to students, teachers, and parents as they embark on a new academic journey.
Highlighting the importance of nurturing good human beings through education, Yapıcıoğlu expressed his hopes for success in the upcoming academic year.
"I wish that the new academic year, which started today, will be successful for more than 20 million students and more than 1 million teachers," he stated.
Yapıcıoğlu emphasized that the ultimate measure of success in education lies in the development of individuals with strong moral values.
However, he also drew attention to a pressing issue faced by many families. Despite the constitutional mandate for free primary education, the associated costs such as stationery and transportation expenses can pose significant challenges, particularly for low-income households.
"Simply not charging tuition fees or providing textbooks does not mean that education is free. Stationery costs and transportation fees should also be covered, at least for low-income families," Yapıcıoğlu noted.
In conclusion, Yapıcıoğlu extended his heartfelt congratulations to all involved in the new academic year and expressed his hope for its auspicious progress for students, teachers, and parents alike. (ILKHA)
