Prophet’s Lovers Foundation addresses key education issues for 2023-2024 academic year
The Prophet’s Lovers Foundation has called for urgent steps to be taken to improve the quality of education in Türkiye.
In a statement, the foundation’s Şanlıurfa coordinator, İbrahim Halil Güven, voiced concerns and shared recommendations for the upcoming 2023-2024 academic year, articulating the pressing need to address several critical issues within the Turkish education system.
One of the foundation's primary concerns, as Güven put it, is the mixed gender education system. He stated: "We see that male and female students are forced into the same educational model, disregarding their spiritual and physical differences."
Güven stressed that immediate action should be taken to "enhance the quality of education in our imam hatip schools, preserving the spirit of these esteemed institutions for the benefit of future generations."
Additionally, Güven passionately called for the "removal of obstacles hindering education in the mother tongue, particularly Kurdish."
Güven also expressed the foundation's unwavering commitment to aiding earthquake victims who have relocated to other provinces.
He urged: "We must identify these individuals and provide them with the necessary material and moral support during these challenging times."

In his statement, Güven underlined the importance of parents' rights to raise their children in accordance with their beliefs and thoughts, particularly in a compulsory education system.
“In situations where education is compulsory, the state is obligated to provide alternatives according to the demands of parents,” he emphasized.
Furthermore, Güven passionately advocated for the right to education in one's mother tongue, considering it both a fundamental human and Islamic right.
He implored immediate measures to "enhance the quality of education in our Imam Hatip schools" and expand "the number and enrollment capacity of these institutions."
Addressing the formidable challenges faced by earthquake-affected students who have had to relocate to other provinces, Güven underscored the pressing need to create the necessary infrastructure.
He stated: "We must ensure these students do not fall behind in their education. This involves identifying and addressing the unique challenges they face. Our university students also grapple with serious accommodation issues, and we must take immediate measures to mitigate the negative impact on their studies."
In closing, Güven conveyed his heartfelt best wishes for the upcoming academic year, expressing hope that it would be "auspicious for our students, teachers, and parents." He fervently called for "solutions to the challenges our dedicated teachers face" and affirmed the foundation's commitment to supporting the education system and fostering a healthy and successful academic environment.
