As of August 29, OCHA's latest update revealed that a total of 78,598 crossings have been recorded, involving returnees, refugees, and asylum seekers fleeing the conflict-ridden Sudan for neighboring Ethiopia.

Of this considerable figure, approximately 46 percent are Ethiopian nationals, 34 percent are Sudanese nationals, while the remaining 20 percent comprise third-country nationals.

The commencement of these crossings dates back to April 21, shortly after the outbreak of the conflict in Sudan, with most individuals entering Ethiopia through the Metema and Kurmuk border entry points, which connect the two countries.

Sudan has been gripped by deadly clashes since April 15, pitting the country's armed forces against paramilitary groups in Khartoum and other regions. (ILKHA)
