Iraqi PM to visit Kirkuk, unveil national roadmap to address city's issues
Jabbar Awde, a prominent leader within the Coordination Framework, has announced that Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia Sudani is planning a visit to Kirkuk in the near future.
During this visit, Sudani is expected to unveil a comprehensive national roadmap designed to resolve the ongoing issues plaguing the city.
Awde stated: "Sudani will visit Kirkuk soon and announce a national road map that will end the city's problems." This announcement comes in the wake of escalating tensions and recent violence in Kirkuk.
According to Awde, Prime Minister Sudani has been in contact with local security authorities and the Kirkuk administration to address the recent surge in violence. As a result, it is anticipated that Sudani will make the visit to Kirkuk in the coming days to engage with political parties and stakeholders.
The visit by the Iraqi Prime Minister is seen as a crucial step in finding a resolution to the ongoing crisis in Kirkuk. Awde emphasized that during Sudani's visit, a series of important decisions will be made, and the comprehensive national roadmap will be unveiled to chart a path toward peace and stability in the city.
Kirkuk has been a focal point of recent demonstrations and unrest. Protests began on September 2nd when a group opposed to the return of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) to Kirkuk blocked the Kirkuk-Erbil road. The demonstrations resulted in the tragic loss of four lives, numerous injuries, and the detention of over 40 demonstrators.
Prime Minister Sudani's impending visit to Kirkuk is expected to be a pivotal moment in efforts to address the city's complex challenges and foster reconciliation among its diverse communities. (ILKHA)
