Turkish FM calls for revitalization of EU membership process
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Wednesday called on the European Union to show the necessary will and courage to revitalize Türkiye's EU membership process.
Speaking at a joint press conference with EU Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi, Fidan said that Turkey has been a candidate for EU membership for many years, but the process has stalled.
He urged the EU to "pave the way" for Türkiye's membership and to act more "courageously."
Fidan also said that Türkiye expects progress in the visa liberalization process and cooperation in the fight against irregular migration.
He reiterated that Türkiye has shouldered a heavy burden in the fight against irregular migration, and that the EU should share this burden more fairly. (ILKHA)
