Istanbul Bosphorus closed to ship traffic for swimming competitions
Turkish authorities have taken the decision to temporarily close the Istanbul Bosphorus to ship traffic in both directions in preparation for the 'Oral B Challenge International 2023 Istanbul Triathlon' swimming competitions.
The closure, which officially came into effect at 03:30 local time on Sunday, is a precautionary measure aimed at ensuring the safety and smooth execution of the swimming events associated with this prestigious international triathlon.
The announcement was made by the General Directorate of Coastal Safety, indicating that this coordinated effort is led by the Turkish Triathlon Federation Presidency.
As a result of this temporary closure, all ship traffic in the Istanbul Bosphorus has been suspended. Vessel operators are advised to seek alternative routes or make necessary arrangements to accommodate this temporary halt in Bosphorus passage.
The 'Oral B Challenge International 2023 Istanbul Triathlon' is anticipated to attract athletes and enthusiasts from across the globe, who will compete in a variety of triathlon disciplines, including swimming, cycling, and running. (ILKHA)
