Erdoğan: We have never left our citizens in the earthquake zone alone
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Saturday addressed via videoconference from Vahdettin Mansion in Istanbul the urban transformation groundbreaking ceremony in Hatay.
Addressing the urban transformation groundbreaking ceremony in Hatay, Erdoğan said: “We have not and will not forget any citizens of ours who died under rubble. We have shown our sensibility on this issue since the first day of the earthquake. We have never left our citizens living in the earthquake zone alone.”
Wishing Allah’s mercy on those who died in the February 6 twin earthquakes and offering his condolences to their relatives, Erdoğan said: “Even though 209 days have passed since the earthquake, the wounds it caused in our hearts are still fresh. We have not and will not forget any citizens of ours who died under rubble. We have shown our sensibility on this issue since the first day of the earthquake. We have never left our citizens living in the earthquake zone alone.”
“We are determined to revive our cities destroyed by the earthquake”
Drawing attention to the magnitude of the disaster that hit 11 provinces, Erdoğan stated: “We saw during the visits we paid to the region right after the earthquake what kind of a disaster we were faced with. No doubt that Hatay and its districts were hit by the disaster of the century. Likewise, our state’s determination and efforts to heal the wounds are also an indisputable fact despite all the difficulties. No more than a handful of countries can deal with such a severe disaster no matter how big their economies are. Let me reiterate that we are determined to revive our cities destroyed by the earthquake in spite of various hardships, problems, and issues that are beyond our control.” (ILKHA)
