Tekin, who was devoted to the cause of Islam at a young age, was gunned down with long-barreled weapons by PKK members in the bookstore he owned at around 15:00 after Friday prayers on September 2, 1994. Tekin was martyred there with four bullets hitting his body.

Tekin was a well-known figure in Adana for his Islamic activities. He was known for his friendly face and inviting personality, and he was a source of morale for his friends in the cause.

Hailing from the Gökçepınar village in the Gercüş district of Batman, Vasfi Tekin was just 35 years old at the time of his martyrdom.

In the 1990s, the PKK carried out a series of attacks against religious figures and institutions, resulting in the martyrdom of hundreds of Muslims.

Vasfi Tekin was one of the individuals who bore the brunt of this violence due to his prominent Islamic identity.
