Kurdish delegation to visit Baghdad for budget talks
A delegation from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) is scheduled to travel to Baghdad on Wednesday to engage in talks regarding the implementation of the federal budget's provisions for the semi-autonomous region.
The delegation will focus on the allocation of the Region's share in the federal budget and the disbursement of public salaries. The budget, adopted in June, has not yet been put into action by the authorities in Baghdad.
The KRG has raised concerns that the allocated amount of 500 billion dinars (approximately $384 million) is insufficient to meet salary requirements.
The Kurdistan Region's portion within the federal budget stands at 12.67 percent, translating to an annual sum of more than $12 billion.
The talks are expected to be difficult, as the issue of managing oil and gas resources has remained a contentious issue between Erbil and Baghdad for well over a decade. (ILKHA)
