The congress began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Ümran Bağış, and the welcoming speech was given by İsmail Çevik, the Mardin Provincial Chairman of HÜDA PAR.

Yapıcıoğlu emphasized the party's focus on prioritizing the development of a new constitution after the Parliament's scheduled opening on October 1.

"For more than 40 years, the country has been governed by the junta constitution," Yapıcıoğlu stated, underscoring the urgency of constitutional reform. He asserted that the junta constitution, which dates back to the military coup of 1980, needed to be replaced with a modern, civilian-crafted constitution that would place justice and the nation's interests at its core.

While acknowledging that the existing constitution had undergone over 20 amendments, Yapıcıoğlu maintained that it still bore the imprint of the 1982 junta constitution. He rallied political parties, non-governmental organizations, academic circles, and all concerned stakeholders to unite in the endeavor to create a constitution that would foster social harmony and inclusivity for all of Turkey's 85 million citizens. He reiterated the call for a new constitution that would embrace the nation's values and prioritize justice.

Yapıcıoğlu affirmed his party's commitment to pursuing this constitutional reform, even with their representation of four seats in the Parliament. He expressed the determination to make the drafting of a new constitution one of the initial priorities when the Parliament convened in October. According to Yapıcıoğlu, a new constitution was essential for Türkiye, as it would address a myriad of challenges, with the current junta constitution being identified as a root cause of many of these issues.

Yapıcıoğlu's address at the HUDA PAR Kızıltepe District Congress underlined the critical need for a new constitution, signaling the party's intention to actively advocate for constitutional reform as an essential step towards a more just and inclusive society. (ILKHA)
