Official statistics reveal a robust educational landscape in the region, with a total of 803 schools. Among these, 448 government-affiliated schools host around 305,000 students, while UNRWA-affiliated institutions accommodate approximately 300,000 students across 228 schools. Additionally, 67 private schools are attended by roughly 21,000 students.

A dedicated corps of around 22,000 educators, both male and female, are tirelessly working in Gaza Strip schools. This resilient group of teachers faces the challenges of providing quality education in an environment marked by years of occupation-imposed blockades from land, sea, and air. Of these educators, 12,000 are employed by government-affiliated schools, 9,300 by UNRWA-affiliated institutions, and 1,300 teach in private schools.

In line with the government's proactive stance to address the demands arising from population growth and to alleviate classroom congestion, three new schools have been constructed this year. This strategic approach reflects a commitment to ensuring a conducive learning environment and optimizing educational opportunities for the region's youth.

Amidst ongoing efforts to enhance the educational infrastructure and provide holistic learning experiences, the start of this academic year in Gaza marks a significant step forward. The continuation of education, even in the face of challenges, underscores the resilience and determination of the region's students, teachers, and authorities. (ILKHA)
