During his stay, Jenca will meet with Nikos Christodoulides, the leader of the Greek Cypriot community, and Ersin Tatar, the leader of the Turkish Cypriot community, along with their respective representatives. The primary focus of these discussions will revolve around the future trajectory of the Cyprus issue and the recent developments occurring on the ground in the region.

The announcement of Jenca's visit comes shortly after the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) intervened in ongoing road construction activities in the buffer zone. The construction aims to connect the Turkish Cypriot village of Pile to the broader Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

The expansion of this road would have significant strategic implications for the residents of Pile, offering them enhanced accessibility to the village, where both Turkish and Greek Cypriots coexist. However, the Greek Cypriot administration and the UN have expressed their opposition to the project.

Jenca's visit is seen as an important opportunity to discuss the Cyprus issue and to explore ways to move forward with the peace process. (ILKHA)
