WHO Chief warns of climate change's immediate impact on health
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization, warned on social media platform X that climate change is not a distant threat, but is already impacting lives and ecosystems.
He cited the devastating fires, catastrophic floods, extreme heatwaves, and prolonged droughts that have occurred in recent years as evidence of the climate crisis's immediate impact on health.
"Let's come together, reduce emissions, promote resilience, and forge a sustainable path forward," Ghebreyesus said. "Our planet and future generations depend on it." (ILKHA)
