Kılıç emphasized that the core concern lies in meeting the basic needs of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) citizens and ensuring unobstructed access to essential services.

Kılıç noted the prevailing support for the Greek Cypriot Administration's stance on the matter, which has its roots in the long-standing dispute on the island of Cyprus.

Reflecting on the historical process, Kılıç criticized the decision for the Greek Cypriot part to join the European Union (EU), arguing that the EU's unified foreign policy approach has led to negative consequences.

He alleged that the Greek Cypriots have taken advantage of this unity to further their own agenda, which has resulted in a blockade hindering the access of TRNC citizens to vital water and health services.

The Chief Advisor firmly asserted that the road construction project under discussion is not a military endeavor, as some parties have implied, but a humanitarian initiative. He underscored that the aim of the project is to address the essential needs of TRNC citizens, rather than having any military implications. This assertion was reportedly conveyed to the United Nations (UN) as well.

Tensions escalated on Friday when UN peacekeeping forces recently intervened by placing concrete blocks at the construction site to halt the road construction efforts.

They also positioned their vehicles within TRNC territory. In response, TRNC security forces utilized bulldozers to remove the obstructing vehicles and reaffirmed their commitment to pursuing the construction project.

The project's objective is to establish a vital link between the village of Pile in the buffer zone and the rest of the country, demonstrating the TRNC's unwavering determination to prioritize the well-being of its citizens.

As the situation unfolds, the Chief Advisor to the Turkish President maintains a resolute stance on protecting the rights and welfare of TRNC citizens. The ongoing dispute underscores the complex dynamics of the region and the various perspectives surrounding the issue. (ILKHA)
