Turkish Interior Minister announces further PKK surrenders, total reaches 32 in two months
Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya disclosed that three individuals associated with the PKK have surrendered themselves to the country's security forces, marking a cumulative total of 32 surrenders within the past two months.
Taking to his social media platform, Minister Yerlikaya highlighted that the ongoing efforts to persuade PKK members to lay down their arms have yielded positive outcomes, with individuals willingly choosing to surrender.
Minister Yerlikaya conveyed: “We have received the surrender of three additional terrorists. This increases the count of terrorists who have turned themselves in to our security forces over the last two months to 32. Through diligent persuasion efforts led by our Diyarbakır Provincial Security Directorate, three more members of the terrorist organization have now surrendered to our security forces.”
The individuals who surrendered, as reported by Yerlikaya, were previously engaged in activities within the Northern regions of Iraq and Syria.
Emphasizing the commitment to counter PKK activities, Yerlikaya affirmed that these recent surrenders signify ongoing progress in the fight against the group.
As security forces continue to focus their endeavors on countering the activities of the PKK, the issue remains a priority in Turkey's security agenda. (ILKHA)
