The Coast Guard was alerted to the group of irregular migrants in life rafts off the coast of Izmir. Coast Guard boats were deployed to the region and brought the migrants ashore.

The migrants told the Coast Guard that they had been pushed back into Turkish waters by Greek forces. They said that they had been trying to reach Europe in search of a better life.

The 69 migrants were taken to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management in Izmir. The 42 migrants who were captured off the coast of Çanakkale were also taken to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management in Çanakkale.

The Turkish Coast Guard has rescued hundreds of irregular migrants who have been pushed back by Greek forces in recent months. The Greek government has been accused of violating international law by pushing back migrants, who are often left stranded in dangerous conditions. (ILKHA)
