Turkish coast guard rescues irregular migrants pushed back by Greek forces
Turkish Coast Guard rescued 69 irregular migrants in Izmir who were pushed back by Greek forces. Another 42 irregular migrants were captured off the coast of Çanakkale.

The Coast Guard was alerted to the group of irregular migrants in life rafts off the coast of Izmir. Coast Guard boats were deployed to the region and brought the migrants ashore.
The migrants told the Coast Guard that they had been pushed back into Turkish waters by Greek forces. They said that they had been trying to reach Europe in search of a better life.
The 69 migrants were taken to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management in Izmir. The 42 migrants who were captured off the coast of Çanakkale were also taken to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management in Çanakkale.
