Heat wave expected to impact Türkiye for the next week, urgent precautions advised
The Turkish General Directorate of Meteorology has issued a notable alert regarding an impending heat wave that is projected to persist for approximately one week, commencing today.
This weather phenomenon is anticipated to intensify its effects in the eastern and southeastern regions of the country from today onwards, gradually extending its impact to encompass other geographical areas.
Over the course of the upcoming week, temperatures are forecasted to surge, ranging between 6 and 10 degrees above the customary seasonal averages. This increase will be particularly pronounced in several regions, including the Central Aegean, Mediterranean, Central Anatolia, inland portions of the Western Black Sea, Central and Eastern Black Sea, as well as Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia.
Given the severity of this heat wave, a call for heightened caution and awareness has been issued, particularly targeting citizens with chronic health conditions, the elderly, and children. The hours between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM, characterized by the peak of daily heat, warrant particular vigilance.
In the face of this weather phenomenon, prudent measures and protective actions are strongly advised to ensure the safety and well-being of the public, emphasizing the significance of staying hydrated, staying indoors during peak heat hours, and attending to the needs of vulnerable populations.
