The Su-30 aircraft went down in an uninhabited area. The flight had been conducted without any ammunition on board. The crew did not survive the crash.

Officials have indicated that a technical malfunction is likely to have been the primary cause of the accident.

Kaliningrad, a Russian territory surrounded by NATO member countries Poland and Lithuania, is situated along the Baltic Sea.

The Su-30 fighter jet has been notably utilized extensively in Russia's involvement in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

The Russian air force has experienced a series of accidents in recent months, which some experts attribute to an increased frequency of flights amid the ongoing hostilities in Ukraine.

In the previous month, two Russian fighter jets crashed separately during training missions – one into the Pacific Ocean and the other into the Sea of Azov. (ILKHA)
