Iranian police thwart arms smuggling attempt, seize 50 pistols in Chabahar city
In a significant crackdown on illicit arms trafficking, Iranian law enforcement authorities successfully intercepted an arms smuggling operation within Chabahar city, situated in the Sistan-Baluchistan province.
Sistan-Baluchestan's provincial police chief, General Dustali Jaliliyan, disclosed to the press that a meticulously planned operation had been executed to apprehend suspects involved in the illegal trade of firearms. The operation, conducted in Chabahar city, targeted individuals suspected of engaging in arms smuggling.
During the operation, law enforcement personnel raided a residential property where five suspects were located. The raid yielded a staggering haul of weaponry: a total of 50 pistols, accompanied by three hunting guns and 99 magazines, were confiscated from the premises.
General Jaliliyan affirmed the province's commitment to maintaining security and preventing unlawful activities, particularly those related to arms trafficking. Sistan-Baluchistan province, situated in the southeastern region of Iran, shares borders with Pakistan and Afghanistan, making it susceptible to various forms of cross-border criminal endeavors.
