On Wednesday, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed 12 new deaths linked to dengue, marking a marginal decline from the previous day's toll of 13. This unfortunate development raises the cumulative death count attributed to dengue in the country to 352 for the current year.

Concurrently, the DGHS reported a noteworthy increase of 2,844 new dengue infections over the preceding 24 hours, as of 8:00 a.m. local time on Wednesday. This figure reflects an upswing from the 2,742 infections recorded on the preceding day.

The fatality statistics for this year encompass 101 deaths in August, 204 in July, and 34 in June. The mounting cases have led to a sense of urgency in addressing the situation.

The first nine days of August have witnessed a staggering addition of 23,237 new dengue cases, following the infection of 43,854 individuals with the mosquito-borne disease during the preceding month. These unsettling figures, sourced from the DGHS under the Ministry of Health, accentuate the persistent struggle against the dengue menace.

Cumulatively, since the onset of January, the nation has reported a total of 75,069 cases of dengue fever.
