India: Monsoon devastates Himachal Pradesh, 200 dead
The monsoon has devastated Himachal Pradesh, killing at least 200 people and causing widespread damage to infrastructure.
The state disaster management authority said that 57 people were killed in landslides and flash floods, while 142 died in road accidents and other causes. Additionally, 31 people are missing and 229 have been injured.
The torrential rains and flash floods have also caused significant damage to property. Approximately 300 roads are closed, along with 42 water supply schemes and 274 electrical supply schemes. 774 houses have been completely damaged and 7317 houses have been partially affected.
Furthermore, 254 shops and 2337 cow sheds have suffered damages. The state has also experienced 79 landslides and 53 flash flood incidents.
Authorities and rescue teams are working tirelessly to respond to the crisis and provide relief to affected communities. However, the challenges remain immense as they strive to restore essential services and assess the full extent of the damages caused by this monsoon calamity. (ILKHA)
