Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemns desecration of Holy Quran in Sweden and Denmark
During an extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the foreign ministers of the 57 member states gathered to discuss the recent incidents of Quran burnings in Sweden and Denmark.
The OIC condemned the desecration of the Holy Quran and called for appropriate measures to be taken against the countries involved.
In a powerful statement, the OIC strongly denounced the acts of desecrating the Holy Quran in Sweden and Denmark, urging member states to contemplate suitable measures in response to such actions. The 35-point agreement reached during the meeting outlines a comprehensive plan to address the issue and uphold the sanctity of Islamic symbols.
Among the measures proposed, the OIC emphasized necessary political efforts, including the summoning of ambassadors for deliberations. Furthermore, economic and cultural actions would be taken to express their rejection of repeated insults to the Holy Quran and other Islamic symbols.
The OIC's call to both countries involved in the incident to put an end to such actions underscores their commitment to respecting all religious scriptures and symbols, regardless of the faith they represent.
In addition to the 35-point agreement, the OIC has decided to dispatch a delegation to the European Commission. The delegation's purpose is to convey the OIC's condemnation of the Koran's desecration and to urge the Union to prevent any recurrence of such criminal acts under the banner of freedom of expression.
The OIC's united response reflects the significance it places on safeguarding the sanctity of religious texts and symbols and its determination to protect the rights and beliefs of the global Muslim community. (ILKHA)
