Turkish and South Korean Foreign Ministers sign roadmap to boost ties
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and South Korean Foreign Minister Park Jin held a meeting in Ankara on Saturday to discuss ways to further strengthen bilateral ties.
The meeting resulted in the signing of a roadmap agreement for a "dynamic Turkey-Korea partnership." The roadmap outlines areas of cooperation between the two countries, including defense industry, energy, transportation, and tourism.
Minister Fidan emphasized that the roadmap represents a clear demonstration of the shared determination to strengthen bilateral ties. He highlighted that political relations between Turkey and South Korea were established in 1949 and were elevated to a strategic partnership level in 2012.
Minister Fidan also recalled Turkey's historical contribution during the 1950-1953 Korean War and expressed gratitude for the martyrs of the host country.
Minister Park Jin praised Turkey's sacrifices during the Korean War and expressed the importance of the roadmap in further strengthening bilateral relations.
The two foreign ministers also discussed the recent ballistic missile launches by North Korea and the situation in Ukraine. (ILKHA)
