At least 25 soldiers killed, dozens injured in Mogadishu suicide bombing
At least 25 soldiers were killed and more than 60 others injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up this morning near the Military Academy Jaalle Siyaad of Mogadishu, Somalia.
The deadly attack took place near the Military Academy Jaalle Siyaad in the Hodan district, located in the north of the capital and close to the airport.
According to initial reports, the suicide bomber targeted members of the Brigade October 14, who were queuing up to receive breakfast.
This brigade was established to commemorate the victims of the horrific attack that occurred on October 14, 2017, at the Ring of Mogadishu crossroads. That tragic incident resulted in the loss of nearly 600 lives, making it one of the deadliest attacks in Africa's history.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
The attack is a reminder of the ongoing threat of terrorism in Somalia, and the need for the government to take steps to protect its citizens. (ILKHA)
