Domestic tourism in Türkiye up 14.5% in Q1
The number of domestic trips in Türkiye increased by 14.5% in the first quarter of 2023, compared to the same quarter of the previous year, Turkish Statistical Institute said.
A total of 8.6 million residents took domestic trips in the first quarter, with an average of 7.4 overnights per trip.
Domestic tourism expenditures also increased by 82.8% in the first quarter, reaching 22.3 billion Turkish lira.
The most popular purpose of domestic trips was visiting relatives, followed by travel, leisure, and vacation.
The most popular type of accommodation for domestic tourists was staying with friends or relatives, followed by staying in their own homes and staying in hotels. (ILKHA)
