Iran's new ambassador to Saudi Arabia to be stationed in Riyadh soon
Iran's Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, announced on Wednesday that Alireza Enayati will soon assume the role of the Islamic Republic of Iran's ambassador to Saudi Arabia in Riyadh.
This move comes as a significant development in restoring diplomatic ties between the two nations, which severed relations in January 2016.
Enayati's appointment marks a notable milestone as he will be the first Iranian ambassador to take charge in Riyadh since the countries severed their relations.
Earlier this year, in a momentous move, Iran and Saudi Arabia signed an agreement in Beijing, China, to normalize their diplomatic relations after seven years of severed ties.
The upcoming presence of Ambassador Enayati in Riyadh signifies a step towards strengthening diplomatic relations between the two neighboring countries. (ILKHA)
