Kosovo PM announces purchase of Bayraktar TB-2 drones from Türkiye
Kosovan Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, revealed the acquisition of Bayraktar TB-2 drones from Türkiye during a presentation ceremony.
Although the exact number of drones was not disclosed, Kurti expressed confidence that this purchase significantly enhances Kosovo's security.
Accompanied by Defense Minister Armend Mehaj and Kosovo Security Force (FSK) Commander Bashkim Jashari, Kurti praised the officers who completed drone training and officially added the Bayraktar TB-2 drones to the country's military arsenal.
“As a government, we have procured Bayraktar TB-2 drones from Turkey! Over the course of two years, our administration has increased the number of soldiers by more than 80% and the budget for the army by over 100%. I am proud to say that Kosovo is now even safer,” Kurti wrote on Facebook.
The purchase of Bayraktar drones has been a topic of discussion since the previous year, and the inclusion of these drones in Kosovo's defense strategy is seen as a significant step.
However, Serbia has voiced concerns and warned Türkiye that selling Bayraktar drones to Kosovo could negatively impact their bilateral relations. (ILKHA)
