Bilal Karimi, deputy spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate, said that poppy cultivation had been eradicated in Afghanistan and that the production, trafficking, and sale of drugs had been prevented.

He said that some countries were using the drug card to exert pressure on the Islamic Emirate, but that their concerns were unfounded.

Kerimi said that 98% of the Afghan population had obeyed the decision made by the Islamic Emirate administration regarding drugs, and that in areas where poppy was clandestinely cultivated, security forces had intervened and destroyed the fields.

He said that the publication of reports by foreign organizations reflecting the results of the resolute stance against drugs demonstrated the success of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in this field.

According to a report published by a research institution in the United Kingdom, poppy cultivation in southern Afghanistan has decreased by at least 80% compared to the previous year.

The report reveals that poppy cultivation in the Helmand province alone previously accounted for 50% of the world's opium production, while after the prohibition order, it dropped by around 99%.

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has called on the international community to assist farmers in planting alternative crops to help achieve complete success in the fight against poppy cultivation and trafficking in the country. (ILKHA)
