The attack occurred at 10 a.m. on July 8, targeting a residential neighborhood and causing damage to a private residence and a store. As of Kyrylenko's latest update, law enforcement and medical personnel remained present at the scene, providing essential medical aid to those in need.

Kyrylenko said that the attack was "a deliberate act of terror against the civilian population" and that the Russian military "is deliberately targeting residential areas in order to kill as many people as possible."

The attack on Lyman is the latest in a series of Russian attacks on civilian targets in Ukraine. In recent days, Russian forces have also attacked the cities of Kharkiv, Mariupol, and Severodonetsk, killing and injuring dozens of civilians.

The United Nations estimates that more than 5,000 civilians have been killed in Ukraine since the start of the war in February. The true number of casualties is likely much higher.

The international community has condemned the Russian attacks on civilian targets in Ukraine. The United States and its allies have imposed a series of sanctions on Russia in an effort to pressure the country to end the war.

However, the sanctions have so far failed to deter Russia from continuing its attacks on Ukraine. The war is now in its fifth month and there is no end in sight. (ILKHA)
