The NATO Council decided to extend Stoltenberg's tenure as Secretary General for another year.

In a social media post, Erdoğan said he was confident in Stoltenberg's ability to lead the alliance through the challenges faced by the world.

Erdoğan said he believed Stoltenberg's work would make significant contributions to the alliance and global peace, particularly during these turbulent times.

Erdoğan's public endorsement of Stoltenberg is likely to enhance the unity and collective determination of NATO member states.

Jens Stoltenberg has been the Secretary General of NATO since October 2014. He is the 13th Secretary General of NATO and the first Norwegian to hold the position.

Before becoming Secretary General, Stoltenberg served as Prime Minister of Norway from 2005 to 2013. He also served as Minister of Finance from 1996 to 2000.

As Secretary General, Stoltenberg has been responsible for leading NATO through a period of significant change. He has overseen the alliance's response to the Russian annexation of Crimea, and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Stoltenberg has also been a strong advocate for NATO's continued relevance in the 21st century. He has argued that the alliance is essential for deterring aggression and promoting stability in Europe and North America. (ILKHA)
