In response to the protests that erupted in France following the tragic killing of Nael M., a French citizen of Algerian and Moroccan descent, by the police in Nanterre on June 27, Ambassador Onaner emphasized the embassy's commitment to protecting Turkish citizens and keeping them informed about the situation.

“We are making every possible effort to ensure that none of our citizens experience any harm or become affected by these events,” stated Ambassador Onaner. “The embassy is maintaining close communication with local authorities and stands ready to provide assistance to any Turkish citizens in need.”

While there have been reports of some incidents of violence during the protests, Ambassador Onaner stressed that the majority of demonstrations have remained peaceful. Nevertheless, the embassy remains vigilant in safeguarding Turkish citizens and urges them to stay informed and take necessary precautions.

“We are closely monitoring the situation and will provide timely updates as necessary,” added Ambassador Onaner. “We advise all Turkish citizens in France to prioritize their safety and avoid areas where protests are taking place.”

To further assist Turkish citizens, the embassy has established a dedicated hotline at +33 1 45 51 92 92. This hotline will provide immediate support and guidance to those requiring assistance.

The Turkish Embassy in Paris continues to work diligently to ensure the well-being and security of Turkish citizens residing in France during this challenging time. (ILKHA)
