Among the hardest-hit regions, Nuevo León has recorded 64 fatalities, underscoring the severity of the situation. Additional deaths have been reported in Tamaulipas, Veracruz, Tabasco, Oaxaca, Quintana Roo, Sonora, and Campeche.

In conjunction with the fatalities, a significant number of individuals, totaling 1,559, have sought medical treatment for temperature-related ailments during the same period, according to the official report.

Mexico has experienced an unprecedented series of heatwaves in the past ten days, surpassing previous temperature records. In certain areas, temperatures have soared beyond 45 degrees Celsius, exacerbating the perilous conditions.

The state of Tamaulipas has been particularly impacted by the ongoing heatwave, prompting Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya to take decisive action. In response, he has established a dedicated task force tasked with formulating a comprehensive response plan to address the crisis.

The Secretary of Health in Tamaulipas has issued a warning, emphasizing that high temperatures are expected to persist across the state. In light of this, residents are advised to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun and seek shelter in cool and well-ventilated environments.

As Mexico grapples with the tragic consequences of extreme temperatures, urgent measures are being taken to protect vulnerable populations and mitigate the impact of the ongoing heatwave.

Efforts are focused on providing necessary aid, disseminating safety guidelines, and ensuring public awareness as the nation confronts this formidable weather challenge. (ILKHA)
