Ukrainian President Zelensky visits frontline positions in Berdyansk
During his recent visit to the Donetsk region, President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine paid a visit to the frontline positions in the Berdyansk direction to assess the situation and express his gratitude to the armed forces.
Accompanied by the command and observation post of the third battalion of the Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytskyi Separate Presidential Brigade, President Zelensky had the opportunity to observe the operational activities firsthand.
He was briefed by Lieutenant General Yuriy Sodol, the commander of the Donetsk Operational and Tactical Group, who provided an overview of the current operational situation in the area.
The discussions between President Zelensky and General Sodol also touched upon matters concerning the formation of the Marine Corps. The president expressed his interest in addressing specific issues related to the development and organization of this military unit.
During his visit, Zelensky took the time to meet and speak with the soldiers who had actively participated in the liberation of settlements in the Berdyansk direction. He expressed his gratitude for their heroic service and presented them with state awards as a token of appreciation.
Expressing his pleasure at being present with the third battalion of the Separate Presidential Brigade, Zelensky thanked the soldiers for their unwavering dedication and commitment to defending Ukraine's independence and freedom. He commended their efforts, encouraged them to remain vigilant, and wished them victory in their ongoing mission.
In a special ceremony, Zelensky conferred the prestigious title of Hero of Ukraine and presented the Gold Star Order to Major Serhiy Dudin. As the deputy commander of the marine battalion of the 35th separate marine brigade of the Marine Corps Command of the Ukrainian Navy, Major Dudin had demonstrated exceptional bravery and courage in repelling Russian attacks on multiple occasions.
